Čučuci Waterfall in Čučuci | Atlas Obscura

Hidden in the hills above the coastal village of Rafailovići, the Čučuci Waterfall is a small, seasonal cascade that rewards those willing to leave the crowded Adriatic shore behind and follow the sound of running water inland.

The waterfall appears as a thin ribbon of fresh water descending through dense Mediterranean vegetation, especially active after spring rains and during wetter summer periods. Unlike Montenegro’s famous large waterfalls, Čučuci remains largely undocumented, known mostly to local residents and curious travelers who stumble upon it while exploring the narrow residential roads above the village.

There are no official signs pointing the way. The path emerges gradually from paved streets into a faint trail, where the noise of traffic fades and the sound of water takes over. Reaching the waterfall feels less like visiting a landmark and more like uncovering a secret — a quiet natural refuge overlooking one of Montenegro’s most touristic stretches of coastline.

Because of its small scale and hidden location, Čučuci Waterfall is not a swimming destination, but rather a short exploratory walk and a peaceful resting spot, often visited at sunset for views back toward Rafailovići and the Adriatic Sea.
