HAMA Europe announces Brookfield Asset Management as the winner of the 10th Annual Asset Management Achievement Award

HAMA Europe was delighted to announce today at IHIF EMEA conference in Berlin, that Brookfield Asset Management (“Brookfield”) has won the 10th Annual HAMA Europe Asset Management Achievement Award for its Moxy Barcelona project.

Brookfield acquired the 414-key Expo Hotel Barcelona in September 2021 as part of the Selenta portfolio. After a €28 Million comprehensive refurbishment, the hotel re-branded in October 2024 as part of Marriott International’s Moxy brand. The capex program included a full renovation of all guestrooms, public areas, F&B outlets, MICE facilities, and pool as well as the creation of a new rooftop restaurant, operated by Confiteria Group.

The asset valuation increased significantly in four years since Brookfield’s acquisition, driven by the comprehensive refurbishment project, the introduction of the Moxy brand, asset management institutionalization and performance uplift.

The HAMA Europe Award was established to recognise the key role played by hotel asset management in sustainably growing asset value and driving underlying investment returns. Brookfield’s Moxy Barcelona project is an excellent example of asset managers taking a holistic approach to value creation with their asset management plan, then working diligently to fully implement their strategies to achieve exceptional returns.

Current Chair of the Awards Committee, Harriet Durbin
