Sustainability Q&A: GCSTIMES Products, Materials & Circular Economy

As we continue our Sustainability Q&A series, this section focuses on how GCSTIMES integrates environmental considerations across product design, material selection and lifecycle management, while advancing circular economy practices.

Q16: How do you reduce the environmental impact of products, transportation and waste?

We adopt a systematic, lifecycle-based approach to reduce the environmental impact of our products, transportation and waste. This begins at the design stage, where eco-design principles guide the use of renewable, recyclable and biodegradable materials. During production, we prioritise energy efficiency improvements and the adoption of cleaner energy sources. In logistics, we optimise transportation routes and promote low-carbon solutions to reduce emissions. Packaging is also carefully managed through reduction strategies and the use of more sustainable materials. At the end-of-life stage, we support recycling and reuse programmes to promote circularity and resource efficiency.

Q17: How do you reduce transport packaging?

Reducing transport packaging is another key focus area. We continuously optimise packaging structures to minimise material use and volume, thereby improving loading efficiency and reducing emissions during transport. At the same time, we are actively replacing single-use plastics with recyclable and biodegradable paper-based alternatives, supported by eco-labelling and thoughtful packaging design.

Q18: Do you use energy-efficient equipment?

Energy efficiency remains a priority across our operations. We promote the adoption of high-efficiency equipment and implement energy-saving upgrades, supported by regular energy performance evaluations. In parallel, we are increasing the share of renewable energy in our overall energy mix.

Q19: How do you promote environmental awareness internally?

We also place strong emphasis on engaging employees in sustainability practices. Initiatives such as LED lighting, energy and water conservation measures, green office practices, paperless workflows, and waste sorting and recycling programmes help foster a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility.

Q20: Do you have recycling programmes?

In support of a circular economy, we are developing and expanding recycling and reuse programmes, including collaborative take-back and collection schemes with customers. Recovered materials are reintegrated into new products or packaging, helping to close the loop and reduce reliance on virgin resources.

In the coming updates, we will continue to share more details about our sustainable initiatives and progress as we work toward building a more sustainable and responsible future. To learn more, please visit the Sustainability section on our official website: www.gcstimes.com/sustainability
