The CATIE International Fair returns on April 18 and 19, 2026 CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center) officially announced the CATIE International Fair 2026, which will take place on April 18 and 19 at its campus in Turrialba.This event, considered one of the most important cultural and solidarity traditions in the canton, will once again bring together families,national and international visitors, entrepreneurs, artists, and representatives of diverse cultures in a space that promotes multicultural exchange,local tourism, and community support.

The CATIE International Fair began in the 1980s, promoted by a group of women known as Las Damas Panamericanas, who organized food sales to raise funds for social welfare institutions. Since then, the fair has maintained its charitable purpose, establishing itself as a regional benchmark.

In its 2025 edition, the fair raised approximately 9 million colones, which were allocated to strengthening community organizations and social projects in the canton of Turrialba.

The beneficiary institutions were the Turrialba Children’s Home, the Athletics Association, the Turrialba Lions Club, the San Buenaventura Nursing Home, the Omar Salazar School, the El Torito School, the Jenaro Bonilla School, the San Isidro Labrador Association, and the Turrialba Volleyball Association.

By 2026, the event will feature a wide range of international cuisine, cultural and sporting activities, entrepreneurship, family spaces, and sustainable initiatives, under the Blue Flag Ecological certification, reaffirming CATIE’s commitment to the environment and responsible development.

Over the next two months, the cultural agenda, guest artists, beneficiary institutions, and logistical details of the event will be announced progressively.

The CATIE 2026 International Fair will be held at the CATIE Campus in Turrialba on April 18 and 19.
