Tourism Fiji Launches First-Ever AI Travel Planner On Chinese TikTok

Tourism Fiji has partnered with China’s Douyin Travel to launch the Fiji AI Travel Planner inside the Chinese social media app Douyin.

The planner will work by showing Douyin’s users Fiji-related short videos. If a user is interested in more,, they can tap once on the screen to open a chat-style interface. An AI-powered chatbot will then suggest ideas of places to visit and build a multi-day itinerary based on what the user says and the videos they interact with.

Tourism Fiji called it an “inaugural pilot project in AI-driven travel planning.”

The project is meant to test whether artificial intelligence can nudge someone’s digital engagement with a short clip online into clear plans for how they can actually visit the region.

“Our objective with the Fiji Trip Planner is to deepen engagement with travelers who are exploring Fiji as a destination and showcase the variety Fiji offers,” said Tourism Fiji’s CEO Paresh Pant, adding:
