Tourism to Costa Rica Grows for Five Consecutive Months and Exceeds 653,000 Visitors in 2026 ⋆ The Costa Rica News
Costa Rica maintains a positive trend in international tourist arrivals throughout 2026, with sustained growth in the first months of the year.
According to the latest data from the Costa Rican Tourism Institute, the country received 653,969 tourists between January and February, across all modes of entry.
William Rodríguez, the Minister of Tourism, highlighted the
market performance during February.
“During the month of February 2026, a total of
308,873 tourists arrived by air, representing a 14.1% increase
compared to the same period last year.”
The minister noted that the main source markets continue to
show dynamism.
“The increase in travelers from the United States is notable, with
growth of 11.7%, and Canada stands out with an increase of 32%.”
As he explained, these results stem from the joint efforts between the
public and private sectors to improve connectivity with priority markets.
“It is a clear demonstration of the joint efforts that the
public and private sectors have made, such as the significant improvement in
connectivity,” he added.
Rodríguez indicated that, despite the positive results, the tourism sector
will continue to strengthen its strategies.
“We will not let our guard down and will redouble our efforts in tourism promotion
and improving the product and the experiences,” he said.
The goal, he added, is to attract visitors who stay longer
in the country and generate greater investment during their stay.
